As a parent of two of China's daughters, I must say that your outlook is rather gloomy. I have personally watched as money sent to one of my girls' orphanages was used to install air conditioners and water purifiers. I research this all the time and I've not seen that 90% of the monies given during the process go to anywhere but the orphanages. Did you know that there is a tremendous movement in China right now to have these girls cared for by trained foster parents rather than in the squalid conditions you describe? I'm not saying that things are cake and ice cream in China right now but there are HUGE numbers of Chinese people who are trying to make this horrible problem better and help the children. The government made a bold, (and bad) move to solve a terrible problem many years ago. They are reaping the rewards of that decision now as are the lost daughters. Attempting to shame them into making more children 'available' is not exactly a diplomatic solution with a history of success.
