The Carrier Intrepid Runs Aground In Hudson's Muddy Bottom

Submitted by Don, Nov 8, 2006 23:03

I would have thought that using a few divers and taking some soundings would have been in order. This is emabarrasing to say the very least. People claiming to have some nautical knowledge, obviously don't. " a few inches of silt stopped the ship from moving away from the dock", Try a few feet.

Come on people hire some divers, get some soundings, blast away the darn silt, get some under keel clearance, and do the job the right way. You are talking about environmental issues by moving silt, its going to get moved anyway. What if you punch a hole in the Ship and cause a spill? That would be a huge environmental propblem.

All of the Tugs you had to pay for ( or we the taxpayers had to pay for)could have moved the ship three or four times. If someone had done their homework........

Have a nice day

Don
