Why Republicans Lost

Submitted by Russ Smith, Nov 9, 2006 07:37

One of the few positive developments resulting from the GOP blowout two days ago is that President Bush may be able to achieve real immigration reform. If Democrats, who by and large are more sympathetic to the President's position than any number of xeonophobic Republicans, don't cooperate on this vital legislation, it'll be proof they have no interest in supposed "bipartisan" governing. If they do work with the President it will be an example, like welfare reform in 1996, that the two parties can cooperate.
