Some of your editorial may be true and all the so called pundits may agree with you ,but the real truth is that the American voter is busy and listens with one ear.
Busy at work, busy with children, chores upon returning from work and finally when all is done they put on the 11pm news or the morning news as they get ready for work. For the past 4 years ,one could not turn on the news without the lead story of how many of our soldiers died in Iraq. Lead story, no armour, wrong war, wrong strategy. Not all voters have cable and they listen to the so called 3 "main networks" (we have not watched them since Mayor Guiliani pressured Time Warner in New York to carry Fox News Channel) and those stations were against Pres. Bush and also against the war.
It was like Chinese torture, though these networks supposedly support the troops, one would never know it by the way they reported the war. Speak to any soldier that comes back from Iraq and you will get another story than the one portrayed on television and on the front pages of the supposed paper of record, the old "New York Times" that is not even good enough to wrap fish in. One cannot believe anything the NY times writes except when it undermined our troops, puts them in jeopardy in order to release classified documents that gave away the strategy of the war in Iraq. The hatred against Pres. Bush was more important than winning the war. Pictures that would aggrivate the terrorists, were on television on the front pages of the treasonous NY Times, daily. They did not care how many soldiers would die because of their stories. Drip drip drip against the republicans and the republicans did not have the quick response room like Bill Clinton had.
When Congress voted to allow Pres. Bush to do what was necessary to protect this country after 9/11, that was a Declaration of War. Too many people reported classified information that should have put them in jail but the republicans did not fight back. If the democrats had been the majority, they would have had the NY Times and all the other editors appear before them and thrown them all in jail for treason if the papes came out against them. That is what is supposed to happen during wartime. Unfortunately, we had a Pres. (I voted for him twice) who could not communicate to the American people that we all were at war, not just the soldiers.
Jay Leno, David Letterman all contributed to the end result of ordinary uninformed people too busy to get the correct information led to the fall of the republicans. The republicans acted like democrats in trying to please them and so who needed to go to the polls and vote for democrats? The republicans went to Washington to reform but all we heard about was spending, no reform, scandals (whatever happened to Cong William Jefferson, the one with the $90,000 in his freezer? A one page story because he was a democrat. )Thus the media contributed to the rise of the democrats but the republicans let down ordinary republicans who believed in them. They spent as much if not more than the democrats and did not reform any agency that continues to get money that is wasted.
One cannot fight a Politically correct War and we are still doing that. James Baker and Bill Gates will now do negotiating to back us out and we have lost this war as we did in Vietnam. Unfortunately, it is not the end and the terrorists will not go away just because the democrats will make nice nice.
