Restaurant Owner's Ad Denounces Bad Review

Submitted by rebecca, Feb 22, 2007 12:56

I just want to say that I fully agree with Mr. Chodorow's assertion that the article by Mr. Bruni was insulting and below the belt. In reading the article it is clear that more attention is spent on Mr. Chodorow and the decor than the food. Having worked for another very well known New York restauranteur, I am shocked by the hostility toward Mr. Chodorow. When I first began working for Kobe Club, I, like most people, figured that Mr. Chodorow would be an volitile, Svengali type owner, without any respect for his employees. But, to my surprise I found him and his partner Charlie Walk, incredibly friendly and easy going. In my experience, it is highly unsusual for people in their position to have any concept of other people. Having known some awful, sadistic, condescending, chauvenistic corporate restaurant types, it is a refreshing change working at Kobe Club. As for the food, I must say it is truly fantastic. Is everything out of this world? No...and I challenge any restaurant to accomplish such a feat. But the food is far superior to that of most restaurants in New York. The style and the prices may not be everyone's cup of tea, but why should it be? If one dines for the enjoyment of an overall "experience" , in food, service, and atmosphere, than Kobe goes above and beyond. As for Mr. Bruni, I think that he and his self important attitude deserves every amount of backlash he gets. After all, like my mother always told me, "in life, very often, greatness is judged by mediocrity."
