In addition to further imperiling the survival of Israel, we can infer that (inter alia) the emergence of the Baker regency will inevitably lead to the coddling of Arab/Islamic dictatorships and blind acceptance of Palestinian violence that characterized Clinton administration policy in the Middle East, and a corresponding weakening of Bush's commitment to fight Islamo-fascist terrorism "offensively," as he and Cheney often describe the grand strategy. So much for James Baker's "realism," a doctrine with which Gates apparently subscribes to, and which almost certainly will be used to justify the change of course in the coming months. And so once again we conservatives who have held steadfast to our core beliefs- in this case for waging an unrelentless and unrepentent war against the radical Islamists as the vital imperative of a contemporary strong national defense- will be hung out to dry.
