John, many people who generally understand demand and supply use that phrase to the confusion or doubt of most other listeners. Managing money in the stock market I hear it all the time. I see how people outside the field react dubiously to the theoretical description, "demand and supply", as they hear it. A better phrase for demand and supply is "you and me". We are the buyers or "demanders" in the case of drugs. Or we are sellers (store owners, service workers, managers who sell to clients, etc,) or "suppliers". Demand and supply means our behavior and our choices. Humanizing or personalyzing demand and supply will make your argument more forceful to the listeners or readers.
