I was dismayed to read the only solution given to supporting the 76 million people in the US who will be over the age of 54 by 2010 is to fix Social Security. The root cause of the very dilemma we are facing is and has been the belief that it's not necessary to save, Social Security will take care of us in our old age. Social Security paints the unpleasant picture of retired oldsters living out their unfettered lives, useless to society, except to be a burden to burgeoning health care costs as they grow old. There is another reality: "Third-agers" will continue working, being self-sustaining and continue to offer society a "WisdomCorps" of collaborated knowledge. I'd like to hear your ideas Mr. Cuomo and Mr. Gingrich, as to what alternative solutions you envision besides Social Security. And if the Internet is mentioned as a primary tool, you'll really have my attention.
