Can Culture Be Bought In the Gulf ?

Submitted by Sara, Mar 1, 2007 04:05

Well I am 22 years old UAE national with a bachelor's degree in the E-business management.

Am not here to defend my place as many of you would assume; I am here to speak out truth. I will specify my words to education. Yes the education programs from Kinder grade to high school are not so perfect, however, they are still in the process of development.

I wonder when readers read your article and commented on them did they ever knew about the place you are talking about and that the United Arab Emirates which you assume is trying to buy culture is a place built on Faith, Believe and Miracles..??

We are a nation who seeks knowledge, education and challenges. Two days ago we were very successful in gathering more that 1000 students from more than 108 countries in one place to spread a massage of peace and love. The comments brought by these foreign students were really pleasing, one of them dared that if such a conference was to be hold in any different place it wont be as successful as it is in Abu Dhabi for the reasons of hospitality, peace and welcoming. If people will argue that foreign people were involved in organizing this conference, well more than 100 students who were part of the organizing team were the success tool of this conference. And am proud to be one of them.

I am a typical local woman (Arabian, Muslim and living in the gulf region). I have equal chances with males in my country to complete my education, work in the place I want to work in and have my right to decide on my future. I would love one day people like you Mr Youssef stop publishing and spreading the false image of a wonderful place like the United Arab Emirates.

Just bear in mind that the United Arab Emirates is a country which is only 35 years old and had significant improvements compared to other countries in the whole world.
