N.Y. Architects Go Green in Rebuilding New Orleans's Ninth Ward

Submitted by Adrien Genet, Mar 2, 2007 10:10

Ms. Galante's comment about New Orleans' being the first major city to be impacted by climate change is another case of mistaken interpretation of the facts. As a lifelong (5th generation) resident whose home was destroyed in Lakeview, I strongly challange her assertions. In truth, the errors by the US Army Corps of Engineers at the MRGO, the 17th St. canal and the other outflow canal levees caused the flooding of New Orleans. To disseminate the wrong notion that the disaster was caused by climate changes makes it more difficult for us to get redress from the Corps which has admitted its errors. By mitigating the Corps' responsibility, a whole new face is put on this disaster.
