I am in a simular situation. He wants the ring back after a four year engagement. I have given him jewlery and no matter what have not asked for it back. Why are men so shallow over matiral items? If it wasn't hers to keep he shouldn't have given it to her. Here is your ring as long as you stay with me and put up with my BS but once you get fed up then it is no longer your ring. We can't do kids that we have in a relationship that way if things don't work out. Here is your son but once you leave I want him back he is no longer yours. Diamonds are suppose to be forever. Let her keep the ring for the good times you shared. Move on and get over it. What is he going to do with the ring once he gets it. He can't take it back to the store and I know he is not going to keep it to give to another woman that he decides he wants to marry. It is more important things to worry about in life than a ring. Unless she was caught cheating on him.
