The truth of the matter is that the sole reason for mayoral control and the appointment of such an incompetent chancellor is to destroy the UFT. Schools are "reorganized," and displaced veteran teachers are not placed. They become glorified substitutes. Now, the latest budget scheme would cause principals to have to choose between experienced teachers and basic school supplies.

As far as education, the mayor and chancellor chose curriculums with dubious track records. Investigate, and you will find who gained financially from the no-bid deals. Immigrant students are tested in English after only a short time in this country. Special education has been drastically cut to the point where in some disticts, students receive no services. The test scores include those taken by non-English proficient students, emotionally-impaired and neurologically-impaired students receiving no services, students who are neglected, students whose parents refuse to do their part, and students who are not sober. And the mayor and chancellor blame only the teachers!
