Controversy Surrounds a Christie's Auction

Submitted by Sir Joshua, Mar 5, 2007 08:09

I just hope this kerfuffle doesn't tar all dealers with the same brush and Mr. Hubris. The Contemporary market is fuled by greed and exploitation anyway so what is the big deal here? The participants are all out to make a buck whether they are dealers or artist. The exposure the artist's works got at auction speaks for their value and should make the artist's happy. They will profit in the long run. Or is this just a kvetch against Mr. Hubris' profiting from their previous agreements? Sounds like the later, but like they say in show biz. Doesn't matter what they say about you, so long as they are talking about you. These artist's are all in the cha-ching league anyway. Much ado about egos.
