Los Angeles Now the Likely U.S. Olympic Bid for 2016

Hey Myles,

I just had to comment on your response. I cant help but correct you on some outdated information that you posted. Second, I sense youre not from Los Angeles.

First of all, you commented on the writer about having outdated facts. To start, Chicago is no longer the second largest city in the USA- it's Los Angeles and the US Census bureau acknowledged that in the early 80's (even before the '84 Olympics). Just had to throw that in there.

As for the stadium situation no one can deny that $300 million is more than enough for a temporary stadium. But in the end thats just what it will be. What legacy will Chicago leave behind for future generations but a 5,000 seat amphitheater? The Los Angeles Coliseum is a registered National Historic landmark and the renderings of it for the 2016 Games exemplify the creativity of blending old with the new. As an Angelino, I must admit that she does in fact need a little face lift. But have you seen the renderings? Gorgeous!

As for the international competition, the IOC knows the USA well deserves to host the Olympic Games. Tokyo is out due to the 2008 Games in Beijing. I havent heard from Rome's bid. Boring. So unless Africa or South America come up with a strong bid the only choice left would be an American selection.

I have to commend Mr. Lambert for including that Mr. Ueberroth turned the Olympic games into a profitable event. And it all started here in Los Angeles. So why not have the Games here in 2016? The infrastructure is here. The facilities already exist. The city and organizers can spend the vast majority of their time coming up with ideas to produce a Games for the world, in a place where the world comes to dream and where dreams really do come true. And Im not just talking Hollywood fantasy. So I say bring the games back to L.A. and let us show the world why Becks came here in the first place.

And thats a fact.
