Hevesi's Acquittal

Submitted by GroovyLady, Nov 12, 2006 18:01

What it seems the voters chose was hate over pragmatism. Blind hate for Republicans is what put Hevesi back into office. Democrats campaigned on "culture of corruption" against Republicans; yet it was Democrats, not Republicans who put a thief back into the New York State Comptroller's office. Yes, Hevesi has been aquitted at the polls. However, I would say that lack of disciplinary action by newly minted Gov. Spitzer indicates Democracy has been circumvented, by the New York State Democrat party. For New Yorkers, the vote on Tuesday proved this is a one party state with no room for questioning or dissenting from the Democrat party line; even if it means putting a thief back into the office that controls the state's tax payer money.

Taking the high road and not pushing for impeachment is certainly honorable and noble; but, is not probing into why voters chose to put a thief back into office good for the health of our republic and process of democracy?
