Strike Threat Issued by Drivers Over Taxi GPS System Requirement

Submitted by Ronald Blount, Mar 7, 2007 21:00

The same GPS is used in Philadelphia and has been a nightmare. The system is constantly breaking down causing thre meter to go blank, the driver must then estimate the fair for the customers. Credit card transactions are constantly lost over this technology and cost the drivers endless hours to track it down. Also it takes several minutes to print a receipt or do credit card transactions. Then there's the urban canyon effect caused by tall buildings that block the reception of the satelittes. You can not pin point a vehicle when the buildings block the GPS view, so how will you know where you left your belongings. There is no true benefit for the drivers or riding public, so who stands to prosper ?
