A New & Improved Course for the Kirov

Submitted by Jaycie Ingersoll, Nov 13, 2006 16:39

My friend and I who attend all (yes, ALL) the Kirov performances in both Los Angeles and Costa Mesa, California first noticed Mr. Scherbakov when the company was performing Sleeping Beauty in Los Angeles. He did a startling and outstanding Bluebird; startling because it was so far superior to all of the other performances of this role, and was danced exquisitely, without apparent effort. Therefore, we were on the lookout for him in both R&J and Swan Lake in Costa Mesa this last October, and we were not disappointed! It is heartbreaking to learn how badly he is treated by the company, especially when his dancing and acting are so far superior to some others cast in major roles. I can only hope that something will change and that he will get the chance to perform other, more challenging roles while he is still young enough to do them. He also has an inner sensitivity and nobility of character that can't be taught, and It certainly doesn't hurt that he is extremely handsome in that way so necessary for princely roles!
