Gall of the Hashemites

Last night, before I read anything about King Abdullah's speech to Congress, I watched Jim Lehrer's interview of his majesty on the Newshour.

Now that I have read this Sun editorial, I wish Lehrer were more knowledgeable of the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict to have asked K.A. about the role of his family & country in the "Palestinian Problem" or about the "Arab Peace Initiative."

To Jim Lehrer's credit, he did ask K.A. about the obvious problem to all who know this history & that's that Israel is in a tough position to negotiate or "talk" w/the Palestinians, i.e., Hamas, when the Hamas charter calls for the destruction of Israel. K.A. just talked his way around it, saying that the Palestinian people are ready for change and peace in their land. If I had not read the Sun editorial today, I would've though K.A. was being completely up-front and speaking in the interests of both the Israelis and Palestinians. Apparently, based on his speech to Congress, he is not.
