U. Michigan's Contempt For Voters
in response to reader comment: Equal oppurtunity

What the article fails to mention is how the scale that U of Michigan uses to grant minorities extra points for admissions is not arcane, and doesn't really keep Whites from getting accepted. Unfortunately, that is what everybody thinks.

The court decision on that case did mention that Affirmative Action is essential in the years to come but at some point will become obsolete. I agree with that interpretation but that won't happen until we realize that White Privilege is real. Once that is understood then it would also be understood that minorities must at least be given some aid in trying to reach the higher education levels attained by their non-minority counterparts.

Bottom line: the U. of Michigan doesn't let anyone, non-minority or minority, to be admitted if they didn't at least reach their minimun level of grades and admissions scores. Unfortunately, that system is not adapted to who we allow to vote because there are a lot of dumb folks pulling the levers at your local polling place. ESPECIALLY on a proposition like the one that was on the ballot and with so much special interest groups providing slanted/skewed news on the issue.

IT'S NOT CONTEMPT FOR VOTERS, IT'S PROTECTING THEM FROM MAKING KNEE-JERK DECISIONS WITHOUT KNOWING THE TRUE FACTS.
