Thank you for an excellent article. A great deal of data can be found about this period and about the Bergson Group in Ben Hecht's autobiography, A Child of the Century, which caused quite a stir when published in 1954, largely because of Hecht's unflattering portrayal of FDR, which was considered blasphemy at that time. I am taking the liberty of emailing you an article I wrote a while back about Hecht and his efforts in the 1940s on behalf of a Jewish state, which cost him dearly.
