California Lawmaker Becomes Highest-Ranking Official To Say He's a Nonbeliever

Submitted by keith cavet, Mar 13, 2007 13:50

Whatever disagreements I may have with Rep. Stark (mostly in the area of foreign affairs generally and his Israel policy, specifically) I shall put them aside and say, Hallelujah! Surely, he is to be commended for being honest and courageous. If this inspires even one of the pious frauds and quivering cowards on either side of the Congressional aisle to express doubt and eschew dogmatism and superstition it will be a great accomplishment. Why does religion and the professing of a belief in the preposterous claims found in ancient texts (without any evidence) get treated with unquestioning acceptance and hypersensitivity? No other important propositions in life recieve such treatment. Time to batten down the hatches and prepare for the storm that is sure to come, Rep. Stark. The "Believers'", be they fervent or fellow-traveller will be coming at you with Category 5 intensity. They become nervous and agitiated when someone declares that they don't believe; especially if that person is a lawmaker. Thank you and good luck!
