How Tolerant Are We?

It's interesting that much of the intolerance toward Mormonism that I've thus far read about are intolerance to their past practices such as polygamy or blacks having the priesthood. Rarely have I come across an expression of intolerance for their current practices.

Have we as Christian forgotten about our own past when the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob permitted polygamy in the Old Testament; or that the gospel wasn't preach to any other race besides the Jews until after the resurrection of Christ in the New Testament.

Is the brand of a man's faith more important than his character or the values that he upholds? If his faith promotes the same ideal value that we believe in or produces the characteristics that we agree with, shouldn't we be more accepting of the man and more tolerant of his religion?

I submit that if the fruits of a man's faith are good works, strong values, and exemplary characteristics, then it is irrelevant whether he is a Jew, a Christian, a Muslim, a Buddhist , or even a Mormon. I vote that we tolerate such an invidual and his religion.
