After reading this article, in the context of recent international efforts freeze Iranian financial assets, it seems analogous to the collapse USSR. President Regan forced the Russian to spend themselves into collapse by expanding our defense spending. It appears that Ahmadinejad have been, or is being, provoked into this same trap. If we can carefully stroke his ego maybe he will make a mistake that will lead to his disenfranchisement.
