There is always a reason to say no. There are a load of good reasons in fact. Hamas hasn't accepted any of Israels conditions. The unity government is a sham. Rockets are still flying from Gaza to S'derot and Ashkelon. Three hostages are still in captivity. Hezbollah is rearming in open defiance of the UN. And the Saudi proposal doesn't eliminate the call of the refugee to return to Ramla, and Jaffa and Tzvat and Jerusalem and a bunch of villages that were replaced and renamed. Well, there are things on both sides that proponents can say and can't say or any peace proposal will be dead on arrival. But everyone already knows what the Two State Solution looks like. There are large powerful forces in the Jewish community and the Arab community that work actively against narrowing the differences. Unfortunately, as The Israel Project says; "the clock is ticking." They are talking about the growing Iranian threat. And they are right. But every day there is another more insidious threat. The qassams and katushyas are improving. In less than five years what Hezbollah did in the north will reach south to Tel Aviv and north to Jerusalem. The clock is ticking and those in power in Israel and the United States better hear it and find the courage that Mr. Halkin says the Saudis don't have and make the peace!
