Mr. Pipes' summary and the book are both outstanding (though, based on his disagreement with MS's conclusions I would like to read his ideas on how Western Europe and Canada can avoid the pit they appear to be sliding into ).
A worry I have, with MS's conclusions about the reality of US military strength is dealt with in the book "AWOL: The Unexcused Absence of America's Upper Classes from Military Service" by Roth -Duquet and Schaeffer e.g. 56% of the graduating classes of Harvard and Princeton served in the 50's...it's less than 1% today with no ROTC allowed in all but one of the Ivy League schools. I believe it is one of the major symptoms, among several, potentially underlying the US's gradual mimicing of WE. Highly trained, specialized and excellently lead troops on the ground and politicians who themselves have served are essential to success in what is aleady the fifth year of "the long WWIII". That will take a will I don't feel.
