40 Years Later, Another March on the Pentagon

Submitted by Joanna, Mar 19, 2007 10:56

I marched on the Pentagon on Saturday and was completely shocked when my fellow Americans, protesting us, called us every name and profanity in the book including a "Whore" and "Stupid cunt take off that shirt" to me specifically. That was no upholding any law. Nothing was being hurt and no one was doing anything besides marching down the street. I am appalled at the ignorance of the people in this country! Those marching held up the peace sign as the opposing side screamed curses and called us terrorists for marching for THEIR rights and freedom. I don't get it.

Another two important observations about this event: Those opposing the protestors were ALL middle-aged white people from certain types of communities. The hundred or so of them were all from the same demographic. Marchers came in all ages, races, religions, etc. It was truly amazing to see that they also turned out in tens of thousands. So, you have a few white, middle-aged people cursing and swearing to peace marchers, and peace marchers in the tens of thousands from every demographic. You can take from that what you want, but it speaks very clearly to me.
