Study Says City's Truck Routes ‘No Longer Make Sense'

Submitted by Edward Kampermann, Mar 19, 2007 18:29

Frankly, Ms Toro's remark that truck route enforcement should not be shifted to the NYPD shows a clear lack of understanding that the NYPD has always been the primary enforcement agency regarding traffic violations. Who should we call - Ghost busters?

Councilman Liu's support of the Cross Harbor freight rail tunnel clearly show how little he knows regarding the "Trash Tunnel" As Chairperson of the NYC Council's Transportation Committee he has never raised his voice to call for massive improvement of the present freight rail infrastruture that courses through Brooklyn and Queens. He has never called upon Mayor Bloomberg to put into operation the new float bridges at 65th Street in Bay Ridge. They were completed in 1999 but the Bloomberg adminstration has kept them closed. He has never called upon the NY&NJ Port Authrity to install a new flaot bridge at the Greenville Freight Rail Yards in New Jeraey. The efficient operation of these float bridges would allow the removal of 400,000 truck trips a year through our city streets. He is just singing the Congressman Nadler's song "Cross Harbor Tunnel"
