Sadly you are probably right about Mitt Romney's chances against Fred Thompson. Though I hardly think the real reason is that Thompson might be the "next Reagan" - he's not. It is more likely that the reason is that there is a tremendous amount of anti-Mormon bigotry out there among the conservative Republican base. That is certainly the main reason why Mr. Romney's campaign has not 'caught fire' so far. Were he a member of any other 'Christian' religion, he most certainly would have. Look to see millions of LDS abandon the Republican party over this fiasco.
