Soros is finally voicing what many people I know have been saying quietly for some time now. AIPAC knows that it is the truth. Congress knows that it is the truth. Everyone in the world knows that it is the truth except apparently for the citizens of the United States.
I have no problem with AIPAC's views being represented and heard in D.C. What I very much dislike about AIPAC is how they bully people into supporting their agenda with threats of organized campaigns to get rid of non-complying Congress members come election time. Anyone who says that they don't do that is flat out lying. There is a line between passionately advocating for your cause and intimidating and blackmailing (using campaign contributions as the primary means) people of BOTH parties to always support your position. AIPAC has clearly crossed that line. They aren't the only ones (corporate entities have way too much influence as well, though they mainly resort to bribery to get what they want), but as far as foreign policy goes -- they are the biggest player. Why do you think the Dems recently removed language from the Iraq war bill that referenced Bush needing congressional approval to launch a war with Iran? Because, in their own words, they were worried about the effect that would have on the state of Israel.
That should scare people. Yes, Israel is our ally -- although, with the permanent bases we are going to establish in Iraq, they become less valuable to us b/c we will have our own presence in the mid-East from which to launch future attacks. But no true AMERICAN PATRIOT should ever make decisions based on the welfare of a foreign entity -- especially not when supporting them causes harm to the United States. I can't even believe that this would be controversial.
Where are all those people who want to ban flag burning? Trust me, allowing a foreign entity to control our foriegn policy is way more dangerous for America than burning the flag. Maybe if we paint the Constitution red, white and blue someone will finally care that Bush is destroying it.
