Gonzales and Tobacco

The News Communication Business firms that market their product by emitting a stream of falsehoods should be very careful as they shelter behind the parchment ramparts provided by The First Amendment. For some demagogue will rise up out of the masses during a time of social unrest and "plausibly" assert that The First Amendmenty protects only "truthful" assertions of fact and theory. The demagogue, naturally, will have a means of defining "Truth", which, naturally, will be most favorable to his advocacy. Then those firms failing the meet his criteria will suddenly find themselves for sale at rather deep discounts in a market with few buyers.

A devotion to Truth and our Ancient Liberties will serve to immunize the ethical News Communication Firm.
