After reading your letter to the GOP I thought I was back in the 50's and 60's. When is the last time you left Manhattan? If not, you need to get out more. As a former Dixiecrat and now a conservative, who lives in the deep south, I could not and will not agree with the foundation of your letter.
I consider myself part of that "grassroots" you mention that had to change. As a Republican party member and chair of a local county seat, I have not personally witnessed ANY form of trying to stop the black vote from this party. Does it happen, YES but not like it used to happen. Frankly, I've seen more Democractics trying to stop the vote by unethical conduct. In my opinion, the party of FDR, JFK and Harry Truman has become a party of HATE. My Demo friends have drank the kool aid and are starting to show that hate and I don't know why. WE are not trying to stop people from voting. The Florida and Ohio problems were just that - problems. It happens in all elections. Both of these problems were in control of a Democractic election commission. For you to think that the Republican Party is a party that knowingly try to stop ANYONE from voting is just wrong and I am offended that you think this way.
You sir, need to get out more. Let me suggest you attend some of these monthly grassroot Republican party meetings. Our goal is to get the message out for what WE stand for. We work hard to gain new members. We sir do not sit around cooking up ways to stop our black neighbors from being able to vote.
Have a GREAT day.
