What's Behind Kobe's Recent Offensive Outburst?

Submitted by Eddie, Mar 27, 2007 15:15

So there's this article on ESPN stating in the very first sentence "KOBE IS BETTER THAN JORDAN" (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=hill/070326). Now I hear everyone going nuts over such a claim as if the President got shot or something. I hear people saying that they won't bother to read the article because it's "bullshit". I hear sarcastic remarks like "Yeah, Kobe is better alright, better at BALLHOGGING!" So this is what I have to say to all you KOBE HATERS:

Actually if you look at the stats in which they had their BEST offensive season...they BOTH took as many shots.......SO NO HE IS NOT A BETTER HOGBALL! And at the beginning of the season, he wasn't taking many shots at all. He's only doing it now because Phil Jackson told him to be more aggressive and give the green light to punish fools on the court. It's really funny how high people hold Jordan on such a Pedistal. Why? If you wanna judge it by Championships then Russell is the best. If you want MVPS then Kareem is the best. If you want making teamates better then MAGIC is by far the best. If you want individual scoring then Wilt is untoachable (Although ONLY KOBE is close to breaking his records). If you want Defense, then hell give it to Wallace or Motumbo cuz each have 4 Defensive player of the year awards. So PLEASE ALL KOBE HATERS, leave your childhood Jordan memories in the past and acknowledge the greatness you're experiencing right now in a MORE COMPETITIVE NBA. I swear, I hate dealing with you Jordan lovers. The sportswriter makes some good points. But even I will admit that to TRULY be believed better than number 23, Kobe has to win at least 2 MVPs and 2 championships on his own without another allstar and top 50 player like Pippen, the best 3 pt shooter in NBA history percentage wise in Steve Kerr, and defensive player of the year and top rebounder in Rodman (Hint of sarcasm here). If he can do that, then yes, he is better. (Also keep in mind that WITHOUT Jordan those two years, the Bulls still went deep into the playoffs. Taking Kobe off this team would make them Lottery bound) Stats are stats. Kobe could average 40 pts if he wanted and Kobe Haters like yourselves would still not give him his due. It comes down to MVPs and Rings. And if Kobe can get those with the players he has around him now.......not even you can doubt that he is better. Robert Horry said it best earlier this week: "Kobe will not win MVP because of the perception that he is arrogant. That's too bad because MVP should be about what happens on the court rather than off the court. He probably will not win it for a long time because of this." Even his mortal enemy Shaq feels the MVP has been "Tainted" the last several years. One more point to make......during the Jordan era, what other explosive guards could compete with Jordan statistically? Clyde Drexler? Reggie Miller? C'mon now. There are way better Guards in this era than in Jordan's. I don't need to list them for you do I? I hate to say it, but Jordan was just LUCKY to have the 90's all to himself! Yes, my friends......LUCKY!
