you obviously know nothing about how great a defensive first baseman Mattingly was even with the back problems. Question, who won the gold glove for first basemen 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994? Oh, and he couldn't hit either? His line for those 4 years was:

Avg- .291 RBI's- 73 2B's- 31 HR's- 12

Wally Pipp and Joe Pepitone would have loved those numbers offensively and neither could hold a candle to Mattingly defensively. FYI- Mattingly was better than Keith Hernendez
