Bloomberg Faults Congress on War

Submitted by Rowland, Mar 29, 2007 00:34

"We ask our young men and women to go over and to fight, and if you have a deadline knowing they're pulling out, how can you expect them to defend this country?", states Mr Bloomberg. There is an important part of his statement that is missing. Whenever I hear the anti war critics, those people speak out against those people who speak out against the War in Iraq, I listen for these words: "The unnecessary, illegal war that was started with lies..." Never do I hear that description of the War in Iraq beginning with those words. Certainly not from the likes of O'Reilly and Limbaugh, and not from the members of Congress who discuss how we can get out of it (or not) within a certain time frame (or not). Also, sadly, never do we hear that phrase from the media who write and talk about it at length every day. If we had said "The unnecessary, illegal war that was started with lies..." at the outset of every mention of the conflict, perhaps we might have realized by now that no endeavor that was begun with such mendacity could ever have a hope of success. We might even have taken steps to end it years ago. As it is, we continue to talk about it as lives continue to be lost for the sake of a totally flawed premise.
