City To Distribute Bins for Recycling Program

Submitted by FlatironMike, Mar 29, 2007 09:07

The amount of paper, metal cans & plastic that is thrown into sidewalk trashcans that easily can be recycled is huge. To be starting 'pilot programs' now is silly. Put them out everywhere that there is already a trashcan and I think we could make a real difference in our wastestream output that winds up in landfills. We already have it in our homes and workplaces so it's not a stretch to do this publicly. Recycling is both an ecological savings directly but it also is energy saving as recycling is much lower in energy consumption than creation from scratch. We MUST get over our throwaway mentality and take care of planet Earth. It's the only planet we have.
