I am afraid I must correct you: Italy unified in 1861. Mister Carlos Picon is surely more expert in ancient history. Anyway that's not the question. The items claimed by the italian government were stolen long after 1870 and purchased by the Met from antiquities traders although the undisputed and proven illegal provenance. That's not a good way to act for an internationally renowned institution as the Metropolitan Museum.
