The maximum rise in sea level predicted by the United Nations is a simple, but erroneous, derivative of histroy. The ice age occurred 10,000 years ago. At that time sea level was 300 feet (Source: Cataclysm on the Columbia) or 3,600 inches below today's mean world wide sea level give or take 50 feet or 600 inches. That equates to a rise of .36 inches per year to achieve current sea level or a .06 inch variance. Extrapolating this dimension into the future a 100 years sea level could rise 36 inches give or take 6 inches. This theory of uniformitivity appears to be extrapolated to justify a conclusion. However according to those who studied the Spokane Floods on the Columbia River sea level rise occurred within the first few thousand years of the ice sheet melt off that continues to this day. There were as many as 40 floods that struck the Columbia River gorge of immense proportions that sent waves up to a 1,000 feet high down the river to the ocean. Gore lacks a simple problem in mathmatics. He forgot to convert feet to inches or he got the decimal in the wrong place.
