Letter to the GOP

" your party was hoping they would usher more black voters into pulling the lever for you, you were neglecting something crucial. Millions of black people remain convinced that the R in Republican stands for racist, for a reason you will have to attend to if you're serious about the black vote.

I have to scratch my head when I hear about "voter suppresion" or "voter intimidation" by republicans. I have never heard a story of a white republican going into an overwhelming black polling place and going "oggy boggy" don't vote here or I will do so and so. Before this years midterm election, the republicans controlled both houses of congress and most of the governorships. When Bush finishes his term in 08, a republican would have held the white house for 20 out of the last 28 years. Follow my logic. Its face to say that the Republican party achieved this accomplishment with the vast majoirty of the black vote. In others words, the republican party doesn't need the black vote in order to win the majority of congress, governerships or the white house. So my question is simply this, since they don't need the black vote, why do they reach of to blacks? The logic doesn't seem to lick. It was the "racist" republicans that wanted a black woman by the name of Janice Roger Brown to be appointed as associate justice to the Supreme Court over Harriet Myers who is white. It's the "racist" Republicans that want to tap Condi Rice to run as a running mate in 2008. In my time, I've seen the first black Secretary of State, the first black Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, the first black Chairman of the Joint Cheifs of State, the first National Security Advisor, and the first black Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, and they were all Republicans. You want talk about how blacks see the R as racist? Maybe blacks shoud look in a history book and understand the history of the Democrat Party. Every year Democrats hold their annual Jefferson/ Jackson Day dinner. Do most blacks even know who Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson were? This year a white supremace by the name of Larry Darby ran for Alabama's Attorney General. This man ran as a DEMOCRAT. Robert Byrd a U.S Senator and "former" member of the West VIriginia Klu Klux Klan. He is a DEMOCRAT. The hypocrisy is pathetic.Robert Byrd gets a pass for his past conduct, yet Strom Thurmond is helled as a villian for all the things he did as a DEMOCRAT. It's never mentioned that Thurmond voted in support to make MLK a national holiday. This is a part of his record as a REPUBLICAN. I apologize for running on, but I'm about to finish. Democrats back in 2006 forwarded an email to its top campaign operatives saying "if you can't find example of voter intimidation, make it up".
