Upper East Side Neighbors Bark Over Planned Dog Run Privileges

Submitted by Dr. Ido Zuri, Apr 5, 2007 14:23

Hello, I am attending the dogrun on 60th street every day for 2 years, 1.5 hrs per time, regardless of the weather. I am writing as a professional dog and animal trainer, who is specialized academically in animal aggression and behavior. I have a large Bouvier des Flandres, well behaved and trained. Many SMALL DOGS try to bite him and bark a lot towards him, and their owners do not do anything, thinking "oh, nothing can happen to your dog." The behavioral problems on these situations start with the inability or ignorance of many (NOT all) owners of small dogs. Big dogs are also sensitive and suffer from attacks by small dogs. From the past 2 years in the dogrun I can say that small and big dogs can commingle together happily. Please come and see yourself. No need to make separations. Ido
