Forget Chelsea: Dealers Look Uptown

It seems that Contemporary art knows no bounds. The once sacred Upper East Side, 10021, where someone once said had enough Renoirs to reach to the Moon now has everything. The expanse of people showing Contemporary Chinese fascinates me. Who buys this stuff. Do they do it just because it's cheap? $1,000 to $25,000. a sale would hardly pay the rent in Chelsea. And now on the 3rd floor? Excuse my creaking bones, but I remember when you could walk up Madison and it was dealers you saw on the ground floor. You could look in windows and enjoy yourself. It all wasn't just shoes.
