2008 Race Draws Bumper Crop of Presidential Hamlets

During Easter weekend, numerous comments were made about VP Cheney changing his mind to enter the 2008 race. He could carry the "heir apparent" mantra.

Since the polls show that 70% of the Republican base want their 2008 candidate to be someone who stood shoulder-to-shoulder next to President Bush, there is no one better prepared to become the Bush Legacy candidate than Secretary of State Condi Rice.

Starting back in early 2005, her name was at 30% in Iowa on the minds of likely GOP caucus voters.
In that CONDIMANIA got so hot and so energizied that she had to make a Sunday talk-show visit to make the statement, "I am not running".
Most people do not understand that she would have to resign in order to run, so why do it now?
Rather than leaving the most important job in DC (next to the President and VP); she is could enter late, (like Cuomo, for the last day of filing for the New Hampshire primary). Next, she can hand off the State WAND to John Negroponte, her trusted deputy, and hit the ground running for president.

Condi Rice brings foreign policy experience which is lacking in all the other GOP candidates portfolios.
Whether she is selected as president or VP, if Hillary or Obama is on the ticket in 2008, the Republican party will cry out for Condi to balance the ticket.
