If the tax code is inevitably going to be made more complicated and "progressive" again, what's the point of merely returning to its 1913 simplicity? We'll just end up back where we are in no time at all.
The only solution to the income tax problem is to abolish the tax. Notice I didn't say to replace it with some other form of taxation. Taxation is theft, period. Would you argue for replacing Thug A's theft of my house with Thug B's theft of my wallet simply because Thug B's plan is simpler? Of course not! Both thefts are immoral acts, and the only way to set things right is to prohibit both of them, not to replace one theft with another.
While the 1913 tax code would be a vast improvement over the current one, it's still morally wrong, and it will still be complicated again by future politicians. Abolish the income tax--and every other tax.
