Albert Einstein famously said: Insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting different results.

How much more evidence do we need that "affordable" (by the way, affordable to whom?) housing doesn't work unless other people are forced - meaning taxpayers like me - to subsidize other people to live cheaply?? The same goes for food stamps and welfare.

This insanity will not stop until artificial and unfair housing regulations are removed so the free market can operate effectively and lift the burden off the texpayers. Cities that have lifted rent controls have seen their rents decrease; it's a simple matter of supply and demand. And those who bleed for the tenants should shed some tears for the property owners who get screwed badly; they are supposed to be protected by the 5th Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees property rights.

Socialized housing is as effective as socialized medicine - and fifty years of rent controls have proved how ineffective it is.
