New York and indeed those all over the country who read it, needed its fair but firm view of the news and its entertaining features and wise editorials. It is a pity that New York, as large as it is, can have only one such newspaper.
I will not be around to celebrate your 100th anniversary, due to a prior commitment; but I believe the Sun will be around, having outdistanced those who fancy themselves its competitors.
