Conflict of Freedom and Fanaticism

Submitted by cassandra, Apr 16, 2007 18:32

It's a sad reflection on the West that we lack the moral courage to take pride in and vigorously defend our freedom. The fact that we live in peace and prosperity ,and can choose for ourselves which belief system to follow, is the direct result of a democracy based on a Judeo-Christian ethic. Instead of rejoicing in this freedom and the democracy which brings it about, we seem ashamed of it and lose no opportunity in denigrating Western values.

Do those harsh critics of our Western democracy really want to live under a totalitarian system, where all the freedoms are denied to us? Islam is one such totalitarian system, which dictates every minute facet of life, takes away personal choice and denies other belief systems any rights, even the right to life. Many cultures have disappeared when the brutal hand of Islam has rested on them. For instance, the fact the Iran (Persia) once had a unique culture based on the Zoroastrian religion is all but forgotten.

We deceive ourselves that we are promoting freedom and choice when we espouse multicultural policies. In reality we are enabling monocultural Islam free reign.

So what's the answer? Well, for a start, admit that multiculturalism is a sham, that opposing Islamism is anti-racist rather than racist, and start being proud that we live in a free society, which rather than being devoid of values, espouses the important values of dignity and freedom of the person, including freedom of thought and religion, equal rights for women and abhorence of slavery. Contrast this with Islamism, which denies all of these values and maybe, just maybe, truth will reassert itself.
