I met Paul Hollander at Princeton University in 1960 when we both entered graduate school. Over the past 46 years I have admired his efforts to tell the truth about the totalitarian regimes he lived under, and studied, which were and are disguised as humanitarian and altruistic. I appreciate his efforts to tell the story of Western fellow-travellers who mistakenly believed that totalitarian regimes were beneficial to the creation of a "new world order. " Some academics still tolerate gulags as necessary to the creation of a "better" world. Hollander has never wavered to denounce such unrealistic understanding of the creation of the imaginary "new social order."
