Naturally, what we--the country with the most guns, the most murders by guns, the most weapons manufacturers and weapon sellers in the world--need is more guns. Lets give every child a gun at birth. Let's put guns in glass cases (like emergency phones) in every public building and make sure it's illegal to go out doors without guns. Maybe if you had lost a son or brother or daughter or sister in this horrific event, or the horrific events that will continue to happen in this country, perhaps you would begin to think twice about this national insanity. Every day in Iraq--violence and gun obsession on the world stage--two or three Virginia Tech type incidents occur. When your horror at this infliction of violence on the Iraqi people by the American people is as great as your horror at what happened in Virginia, perhaps, we can have a dialogue about serious, long term solutions to the cultural sicknesses that lead to gun obsession. The Second Amendment was never intended to arm violently disposed people with modern mass killing machines. If you cannot understand that, you will never understand the horrors in Virginia or Iraq, and our colllective responsibilty for both.
