Traffic Troubles

Eileen,

We all agree that congestion is bad in the city, but the tax is not going to hurt the Bergdorf shopper, they don't care about spending an extra $5. It hurts people like me who can not afford to live in Manhattan, but have to work there. I live in an area of Queens that does not have convenient access to mass transit. If I had to take mass transit, my commute would increase by over 2 hours a day. If the congestion tax were implemented, it would cost me over $5,000/yr in after-tax dollars, which means that it is going to take up $7,500/yr of my gross pay. There is no way that my family and I can afford that, it would be a real hardship.
