I wish I could agree with your comments, but I can't because they're both wrong and sentimental. Newspapers in this country, and around the world, have always been biased, unfair and often contemptuous of the objective truth if it interferes with their agenda.
And what is the agenda of the media? To attract as many readers/viewers as they can and sell advertising for as much as they can. To be successful this requires shamelessly pandering to a target audience. There has never been, and never will be, a golden age of objective and reliable media. The media is about pleasing their audience, to the extent they have one, and making money. If they don't make money they go out of business. There are no exceptions. Even George Soros or Rupert Murdoch can only delay, not eliminate, the consequences of this iron law.
