Rod Paige Warns of a 'Death Grip' by Unions

Submitted by Jill Schwarz, Apr 19, 2007 00:36

I was an ElEd student when I first experienced the power and control the NEA had over me. I learned that my dues would be used for very objectional things, and trying to prevent it was incredibly difficult (impossible, really). I felt physically sick when I wrote the check to the NEA, and vowed to find another way. There is another place teachers can go but I don't recall the name. It does not have political activism, bullying power, or anything negative like the the two big teachers' unions. I would never join another union again in my life! I decided to not teach in the public schools, and now am homeschooling. I went through the indoctrination process to be a teacher and simply can't stomach the public school system any more. I am pushing for our state to get out of NCLB, but I completely agree with Rod Paige on the union issue. He is brave to say what he says, and it would be wise for him to watch his back after speaking truth about the unions.
